Find your perspective

Let the wildlife come to you.
Let the light tell the story.

Paurosa offers subjects for both wildlife and landscape photography: game animals, birdlife, mountain scenery, plains and the changing atmosphere of the conservancy.

The four camouflaged concrete hides offer a discreet place to observe. When enquiring, describe your photographic interests and preferred dates so Sam Mia can advise on current opportunities and hide allocation.

Think beyond a single close-up. A wider frame can show the relationship between an animal and its landscape, while details of vegetation, colour and light add another part of the story.

Changing seasons bring changing backgrounds. Summer rainfall contributes to greener scenery, while the published climate information helps you plan for warmer summer days or cooler winter evenings.

Browse the gallery for inspiration before your visit. Wildlife movements, conditions and sightings vary naturally, so build time and patience into your plans.

Ideas for your visit

A thoughtful photography session.

Share your subjects

Tell the lodge if your interest is antelope, giraffes, zebra, birdlife or landscapes. The team can discuss what suits your visit and the sessions you would like to arrange.

Keep the kit practical

Bring equipment you are comfortable using, charged batteries and sufficient storage. Binoculars can help you observe between photographs, and simple weather protection can be useful in changing conditions.

Look for the whole scene

Notice backgrounds, patterns and the way an animal is placed within the landscape. A quiet approach and an unhurried session leave room for different kinds of photographs.
